This was such a lovely, winding walk up the path to the remains of this 11th century castle just a short walk from our room.
It was a treat to walk the intact battlements between the towers!
At the top of the point is a more modern lighthouse. We then wound our way down through the narrow lanes of old town on real cobblestones (ouch!)
I’m in love with this magical place! Morgan and I decided we want to live in that house with arches you can see halfway up the cliffs. 🙂
Tossa de Mar’s Castle is an impressive fortress located on the beach that has stood guard over the town for centuries. Built in the 12th century, the castle served as a crucial defensive structure, protecting the town from pirate attacks and other threats throughout the centuries. It has witnessed numerous historical events, including the Catalan Revolt in the 17th century and the Spanish Civil War in the 20th century. Today, the castle has been converted into a museum, where visitors can learn about its fascinating history and explore the ancient walls, towers, and battlements.
