This little beach town on the Costa Brava (northern Spain on the Mediterranean) is just spectacular. Yes, that’s a castle on the beach. We spent the afternoon settling in and checking out the beach.

We wanted to go to a beach town to relax after the crazy pace of the last few weeks. I just picked a nearby town because I saw the cool picture of the castle on the beach. That has turned out to be a fantastic choice.

The sand is very pebbly, and I might need to buy some cheap watersocks. Good news – it just falls off and doesn’t stick like sand.

The bus ride here nearly made three of us lose our lunches due to the almost switchback curves.

The sand is basically made up of little rocks. I had to buy some water socks. The good news is that means that you don't get sandy.

It may be the Mediterranean, but it's...not warm.
